The week of December 8th is the last week for leaf and compost collection by Priority Waste until the service is started again in March.
Priority Waste purchased GFL residential waste customers as of July 1, 2024, to provide waste and recycling services in the City of Bloomfield Hills.

Trash, recycling, and compost must be ready for collection by 7 a.m. on your day of service.
The City of Bloomfield Hills has a contract for residential waste and recycling services with Priority Waste, formerly called Green for Life Environmental (GFL). Their Customer Service can be reached at 586-228-1200 or via contact form.
- Priority Waste offers three levels of service options for city residents:
- Curbside Service requires waste and recycling to be at the curb by 7 a.m. on the day of pickup.
- Door Side Service will be collected at your designated door by 7 a.m. on the day of pickup.
- Inside service will be collected inside the designated location by 7 a.m. on the day of pickup.
- City residents west of Woodward Avenue have weekly collection on Tuesday.
- City residents east of Woodward Avenue have weekly collection on Wednesday.
- Waste Collection Schedule
- Compost Pickup Period: From the week of March 15 through the second full week of December. No limit - bags and cans must be less than 60 pounds.
- Senior Discount: Contact Priority Waste for information on a senior discount for city residents.
- Items must be contained within a recycling bin and ready for pickup by 7 a.m.
- Items able to be recycled:
- Cardboard and Paper Bags
- Paperboard, Magazines and Catalogs
- Junk Mail
- Newspaper
- Steel and Tin Cans
- Clear and Colored Glass
- Kitchen Cookware
- Aluminum Cans
- Plastic Jugs
- Household Plastic (Numbers 1 through 7)
- Items Not Allowed for Recycling
- Plastic Bags
- Paper Milk or Juice Containers
- Styrofoam Containers
- Garbage / Compost Food Waste
- Propane Tanks
- Paint Cans
- Medical Waste / Syringes
- Flammable Liquids
- Household Cleaners
- Chemicals (Dry or Liquid)
- Wood Items
- Concrete
- Electrical Cords / Batteries
- Garden Hoses
- Tires
- Bulk Waste must be curbside by 7 a.m. along with solid waste.
- Priority Waste will pick up the following:
- Appliance
- Hot Water Tanks
- Air Conditioners
- Furniture
- Carpet must be rolled up and secured with rope or tape and not to exceed 4 feet in length or 60 pounds in weight per roll.
- The following bulk items will not be picked up:
- Vehicles
- Industrial equipment
- Sheds
- Please note: All doors and racks must be removed from appliances

- New Year's Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day

Annual Payment Incentive
Residents who pay for solid waste collection on an annual basis in advance will receive the 12th month free if payment is received by March 31st of the contract year.
