2019 Road & Infrastructure Program

The City of Bloomfield Hills 2018-2019 Water Main Replacement Program will resume on Monday, April 29th.  The streets remaining for the 2019 program are Falmouth Drive, Kennebec Court, Marblehead Drive, Merrimac Court, Rudgate Road, and Sebago Lane. There are several other streets, including Bennington, that will also see restoration and paving improvements as a carryover from last year’s work.  If you have specific restoration concerns, please contact the project engineer, Melissa Coatta at (248) 454-6567.

The project will start with construction crews on-site installing layout stakes, marking utilities, mobilizing traffic control signage, and installing soil erosion control measures.  Please do not remove the stakes as they are needed to properly align construction of the underground utilities and roadway.  Water Main Replacement construction is anticipated to be complete by the middle of June, with restoration to follow closely thereafter.
Roads under construction will be closed to through traffic during construction, local traffic access will be maintained. Progress may be slow at times as temporary road closures will need to occur for short durations while the Contractor works and mobilizes equipment. Our goal is to provide as much unobstructed access as possible for residents to their homes. There will be times when construction is underway on your street that you may need to plan your trips based upon construction activity.  To help, Tom Cairo, the City’s field representative from Hubbell, Roth & Clark, Inc. will be on-site at all times.  He can be reached at (248) 535-3437.  Tom is available to work with residents to minimize the impact of construction and help with any concerns or to navigate access to and from your homes.
Water Main infrastructure improvements will require construction in the city owned right of way. We are currently reviewing areas that may require removal of landscaping or structures to accomplish the improvements. We will communicate with property owners that will be impacted.
The City will provide frequent e-mail updates to notify residents about the status and progress of the project. Please provide your email address and / or cell number to Amy Burton, City Clerk at aburton@bloomfieldhillsmi.net to be included on the confidential email and text distribution list for construction updates.
Thank you for your time and cooperation during this construction season.
