City Services during COVID-19

City of Bloomfield Hills Seal

In compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order, all non-essential city services will be suspended until May 1, 2020.  The Department of Public Safety will continue to provide emergency services to the community and the Department of Public Works will have staff on duty for continued infrastructure duties.

  • City Hall is closed to the public. All city services can be accomplished via phone, email or the city’s website. City staff is prepared and organized to provide services by working remotely with the public. If you need to deliver documents to the City, please use the drop box located outside of the entrance to City Hall or items relating to city business may also be left in the Public Safety Department lobby.
  • All public meetings in the City offices that are not required by the City Charter have been cancelled until further notice. The City will work to accommodate all non-required meetings through remote teleconferencing.
  • Public meetings that are required by the City Charter will be continually evaluated for compliance with the current state and federal guidelines.

The Public Safety Department remains fully ready and committed to providing services to the community.  It is also imperative that our first responders stay safe and healthy.  Accordingly, we are modifying operations in the following ways:

  • The Public Safety Department lobby will continue to be open 24/7.  Please understand that our staff and personnel may not open the protective glass to conduct business with you, this is being done as a protective measure.
  • If you call us, please advise us if you or any member of your household are not feeling well, even if you are calling for police or non-medical services.
  • Our officers have been instructed to limit face to face interaction as much as possible, they may speak with you at significant distances.
  • If the nature of the incident is a non-emergency, our officers may contact you by telephone to take your report or complaint.
  • If there is an incident that endangers the safety of persons or the community, we will respond in person.  We will also continue to respond to crimes in progress, criminal activity will not be tolerated.
  • Please understand our officers may interact with you wearing wearing protective masks, gloves and eyewear.
  • Please do not try to shake our hands or hug us (let your children know as well), fist bumps are acceptable.
  • The Public Safety Department has suspended the administration of walk-in Preliminary Breath Tests (PBTs).  Please contact the court or your probation officer for further guidance.
  • We ask that everyone who does not need to be out, stay home and practice social distancing.
